About Sara

The stars called.
I answered.

Former UX Director turned astrophotographer-for-hire. I traded the standing desk for a telescope, and headed to where the skies are dark.

I've been chasing dark skies since a road trip to Marfa in 2015 completely rewired my brain. I've photographed comets, eclipses, meteor showers, and the Milky Way arching over the West Texas desert. I still have the Meade ETX90 my parents gave me in high school. It still works. We've both held up remarkably well.

My background in design means I think obsessively about experience… not just pointing a telescope at something and saying "yep, that's Saturn." I want you to feel the scale of what you're looking at. I want you to drive home feeling like something shifted.

A note about conditions: The night sky is a natural phenomenon and occasionally acts like one. In the case of significant cloud cover or weather, we reschedule. Sara monitors conditions carefully and communicates early. Steel wool sessions require additional safety considerations and are offered seasonally — ask when booking.

A hands-on introduction to astrophotography. Camera settings, composition, working in the dark — you leave with real images you took of real celestial objects. DSLR, mirrorless, or a newer smartphone all work. No experience necessary.

Milky Way intensive

A dedicated session focused entirely on capturing the Milky Way core. Foreground composition, long exposure technique, basic stacking, editing workflow. Not a lecture — we're outside with cameras in hand from dusk until the core clears the horizon.

Not quite yet! Sara is relocating to the Texas Hill Country (Fredericksburg) this summer, taking some overdue time off in July, and will spend mid-August testing equipment and fine-tuning the experience. Star parties, photoshoots, and workshops are on track to open for booking in Fall 2026. Join the list below and you'll hear the moment dates go live.
A private, guided night sky experience — usually with telescopes and a constellation tour — held at your location. My star parties range from "scientifically rigorous and charming" to "sound bath, birth charts, and charcuterie under Scorpius." You pick the tier.
Outdoor space with a reasonable view of the sky — a backyard, patio, ranch, campsite, Airbnb porch. That's it. Sara brings everything else: telescopes, laser pointer, red-light flashlights, and all props and materials for your chosen tier.
Yes, and honestly this is one of the best setups. Just confirm with your host that outdoor activities are permitted and you're good to go. Many Hill Country Airbnbs are perfectly positioned for dark sky viewing.
Clouds are the mortal enemy of Dark Sky Darling. If conditions are going to ruin the experience, we reschedule or refund. Sara monitors the forecast closely and communicates early — usually 24–48 hours out. No one is sitting outside staring at overcast sky hoping for the best.
Sara is based in Fredericksburg and serves the Central Texas & Hill Country area — Austin, San Antonio, Kerrville, Boerne, Dripping Springs, Marble Falls, and surrounding areas. Travel fees may apply beyond 60 miles from Fredericksburg.
Most of the year is excellent — Texas gets a lot of clear nights. Summer (June–August) is Milky Way season when the galactic core is visible. Fall brings beautiful planetary views. Winter has some of the best deep sky objects. The one caveat: April and May tend to be the cloudiest months in the region, so manage expectations accordingly. Sara will let you know what's overhead when you book.
They are real in the sense that Sara uses your actual birth chart and tells you real things about it with great theatrical confidence. They are not real in the sense that the position of Jupiter at your birth does not govern your romantic prospects. This is for fun, wonder, and self-reflection. The cosmos are not liable. Sara is not liable. Your rising sign is not liable.
